Belen Hermida was elected Dean of the Official Madrid College of Architects (COAM by its Spanish acronym) with 41% of the votes. 1.843 out of the 10.000 collegiates participated, less than 18% of the registered to vote.
Hermida has won the election representing the group “Somos COAM”, merging two opposing factions, Reset and Activa, which have alternated in office in the past few elections.

According to a recent interview with EL PAÍS, her first measure will be the drafting of a new strategic plan for the Madrid institution:

"The COAM will be 90 years old in December and until now there has not been one. We want to promote internal management so that the institution works as well as possible and to create five working areas: profession, administration, training, innovation, and culture and society. These are aspects that have to do with the professional practice of architects. The college regulates this profession, which is important for the citizens"
