The COAM award 2015, the Luis M. Mansilla award and the COAM +10 award have been announced today. The last one is a new category for buildings built more than ten years ago.

The COAM award 2015 has gone to the Francisco Giner de los Ríos Foundation headquarters, by AMID.cero9.

The jury appreciated the exemplary nature of the proposals in their ability to contribute to the dissemination of the values of architecture in society, their ultidisciplinar nature, their ability to qualify the urban space or the context of the performance, their innovative approach and their development within the good architectural practices, and has decided to award the following prizes:

First Prize COAM 2015 has been given to:

- FRANCISCO GINER DE LOS RIOS FOUNDATION HEADQUARTERS, by Cristina Díaz Moreno and Efrén García Grinda.

For its excellent implementation in place at the urban level, managing an appropriate scale. The integration of the existing building, through a new fragmentation of the proposal is another reason for obtaining the prize. As well, the formal valuation of its facade, for being innovative, and for the abstract character that gives to the set. The jury proposes the need of rethinking, for the future, the categories of the COAM Awards, specially in a moment in which most of the architects of Madrid are developing their work out of the Community of Madrid. Also they have proposed to review the +10 category that, although it is considered timely, it presents problems for its management, as evidenced by the fact that only six nominations have been submitted to this call.

Finally, the jury members want to place on record the good reception by the representatives in the Jury of the Governing Board of the COAM, and the cordial and friendly environment that has developed in the deliberations session.

The ceremony for the COAM 2015 awards will take place on Thursday 8th October at 20:00 in the assembly hall.
