A few days ago the winners of the competition organized by reTH!INKING launched on 10th May were announced, this time addressing a subject full today: flexible housing.

The "FLEXIBLE HOUSING. SOCIETY" reTH!INKING contest arises with a clear question, what is to inhabit? We are experiencing a time of changes in family structures and models, as well as the concepts of private and public, hybridizing themselves in both directions. Our society has transform the time in a production space, in which the house can pass defined as an immunity area. It has transformed the concept of "inhabit", meaning now as "stay in one place for a long time," reducing the housing durability and expanding their own horizons. Architects must project housing as a space capable of absorbing all these changes and mutations.

The jury - composed by Carlos Arroyo Zapatero [Carlos Arroyo Architects], Esther Mayoral Campa [BPhD Architect Project ETSA Seville], Borja Sallago Zambrano [GIVCO researcher & BAMMM Architects] and Carlos Tapia Marín [PhD. Architect History, Theory and Composition ETSA Seville] - chose the three winning projects from among 113 proposals submitted, but they considered that none of them could fully assume the budgets of the contest, so he decided to award three second rethinking # 008 Flexible Housing Society prizes, very meritorious, leaving the first and third prize deserts, making an horizontal distribution of prizes.
