The project has two levels and stands out for the color gradient it uses, standing out as an architectural intervention over the rest of the buildings in the environment as well as being a pleasant and familiar space for the children themselves.
Project description by IH arquitectos
The new Marista's Nursery School arises from the need to provide a new space for kids in the School in order to improve the facilities, the efficiency and the school organization. This will provide an improvement on its functionality and usability as well.
The project is located in the same place of the old nursery school, on a trapezoidal plot adjacent to Avenue Juan de Borbon. This irregular form and the city zoning requirements define the volume and the position of the building which achieves an optimal exploitation.
The school’s new volume requires both natural light access and management, due to the building functional requirements.
Attending to these requirements, the building is generated by a plane that covers the interior volume and it is vertically enclosed by a system of louvers that indicate the interior program through a color gradient. These louvers regulate the flow of light and people, as well as the shaping of the singular and contemporary facade of this new building.
