Today, Fomento showed the Spanish Proposal in the International Architecture Biennale of Venice SPAIN LAB and ...I do not understand nothing, for I thought that Spain was involved in a Biennial titled "COMMON GROUND".

Some differences for explain:

- The curator of the Biennale, David Chiperfield has titled this year's exhibition as "Common Ground". One of the Spanish Pavilion commissioners declared a few days ago, «Individualism is the architectural heritage of Spain.».(¿?)

- The curators Anton Garcia Abril & Deborah Mesa say they want to claim the vital importance of research processes in architecture, the vocation of innovation rather than the submission of samples of the great achievements of past years of economic boom and what is presented are seven studies whose career has been consolidated during the economic boom. (¿?)

On July 10 the newspaper ABC in an interview with Anton Garcia Abril collected the following statement: "Something that a priori might seem wrong, but has become an important sign of identity:" Individualism is the architectural heritage of Spain, " says the commissioner."

With this economic situation, is it time to defend every man for himself? ¿to defend individualism? And this is the international reference of Spain requesting financial support to its European partners?. Yes, this will happen in the next Biennial, in which Spain shows 4 pavilions, why no one is able to empathize with others, to find a "COMMON GROUND"? This seems to be a clear reflection of how the things said and do, not match.

Finally it is emphasized that all will continue on a digital platform in a virtual network. Well, how many of these institutional platforms reminds the reader that were created and run?

Of course nothing to say to selected offices that have a remarkable career, but a great sadness to ideas, way and the intended result, because one gets the feeling that the economic crisis, identity, values, architecture and architects ... will be extended, because whatever is coming is more individualism.

The exhibition opens on August 27 and will run until November 25. The Venice Biennale of Architecture is an international exhibition in which the Ministry of Public Works has been around since 1998.
