The NUBElización project was a project installed in one of 6 courtyards of stately Mallorca capital homes during INSÒLIT, a Temporary Installations Festival in the Patios of Palma that aims to promote the city’s great architectural heritage through temporary creative activities.

NUBElización project was installed in the courtyard of Can Oms, during the 2019 festival, which took place on July 3,4,5 and 6 in Balearic city.
NUBElización is a meteorological phenomenon, designed by Juan Antonio García Poveda, where clouds penetrate to the interior of the courtyard and precipitates. But this precipitation does not act as it does on the outside: here the drops "solidify" and do not fall to the ground. In this way, the courtyard becomes an open but closed place, where it RAINS AND DOES NOT RAIN.

1017 visible drops of water cast watery shadows on the patio, allowing guests to remain in the courtyard during the warm summer mornings. On the other hand, nebulizers bath the patio between the drops, creating a fresh atmosphere.

Other festival performances were: The Eclipse (the winner) and, The Catenary and the Arch.

Project description by Juan Antonio García Poveda

A courtyard is an open space in the heart of a building. It is a space where, in addition, the weather conditions are introduced to the interior of the building: this is where the phenomenon of NUBElización happens.

NUBElización is a meteorological phenomenon where clouds penetrate to the interior of the courtyard and precipitates. But this precipitation does not act as it does on the outside: here the drops "solidify" and do not fall to the ground. In this way, the courtyard becomes an open but closed place, where it RAINS AND DOES NOT RAIN.

INSÒLIT is a Temporary Installations Festival in the Patios of Palma that aims to promote the city’s rich architectural heritage through temporary creative activities. The festival has 6 courtyards of stately homes where the NUBElización project was installed in the courtyard of Can Oms.

Juan Antonio García Poveda, (b. Albatera, Alicante, España, 1989). He is architect from Alicante University. After completing his studies he worked as a professor of architectural projects at this university. During this time he was able to work with the students about the ephemeral and ecological architecture through the use of collages and the construction of artefacts.

His professional work has been developed on different scales: from the design and creation of furniture and graphic design, to the construction of offices and homes, as well as the development and construction of stands for various international fairs.

He loves music, the mountain, the bicycle and more if the three things go together.
