“ENCHANTING TRACES - Reflections on b720 Arquitectos’ work” is the title of the retrospective exhibition that the Aedes gallery dedicates to the b720 studio and that can be visited until January 17, 2019 in the Berlin gallery.
Until January 17, 2019 you can visit the exhibition “ENCHANTING TRACES - Reflections on b720 Arquitectos’ work” the retrospective exhibition that presents 20 works by the team of architects b720. The study, directed by Fermín Vázquez and founded together with Ana Bassat in 1997, celebrates 20 years of professional experience with offices in Madrid and Barcelona.

The Encants Barcelona market, the centerpiece of the installation, is one of the most famous markets in the world and represents the character of quality and the identifiable appeal of the b720 production, which includes buildings such as the Hotel VP. Plaza España (2018, Madrid), the Lycée Français (2017, Barcelona), the Itaim Tower (2017, São Paolo) or the Spanish Pavilion at the Universal Expo (2015, Milan).

The exhibition is a retrospective, 20 years | 20 projects selected to explain the approach and working methods of the B720 team. These works incorporate multiple scales and have left traces, not only physical, but also in the collective imagination. The central element of the installation evokes a position in the market of the Encants Barcelona, central project of the exhibition discourse.

Around this "market" have been arranged on folded panels, fragments of each of the projects. These supports have inherited the materiality of the work Encants Barcelona and present a high degree of reflection on the golden color background so characteristic of the iconic cover of the "Mercat".

Aedes gallery was founded in Berlin by Kristin Feireiss more than 35 years ago. It was the first time that architecture was exposed and presented as a product of developed processes. So far, in Germany, architecture was only seen as something specific for real estate fairs.

The Aedes Gallery transformed the phenomenon of architecture into something concrete in the public domain, bringing urban reality closer to society, making it debatable and political.

In 2006 Aedes moved to a new location in an old industrial enclave in the Berlin district of Prenzlauer Berg, now a center of artistic creation. Aedes is divided into two spaces exhibition spaces, offices, a bar / cafe and since 2009 the ANCB The Aedes Metropolitan Laboratory, adding a total of 600m².
