The reTHINKing team proposes a new design competition for creating a contemplation and rest area in the Pulpit Rock, a natural viewpoint 600 metres above Lysefjorden fjord.

The design freedom is absolute, this competition encourage the participant to inquire about the landscape and the different forms of intervention in it. Limit, scale, views, crossed sights, horizons, accessibility are key.

Viewpoint in the Pulpit Rock competition seeks a concept: BALANCE. But what is the line which splits apart the superfluous and the necessary?. That is what the contestant must investigate.

Competition rules.-

Eligibility.-

All students and architects or related professions anywhere in the world can participate in the contest. Participation can be individual or in groups, being eight (8) the maximum number of members. Team members can be from all disciplines (artists, philosophers, photographers, etc.), without being necessary, although advisable, the presence of an architect or architecture student. It is allowed that members are from different universities and countries.

Calendar.-

Beginning of registrations.- June 23rd 2015.
End of registrations and FAQ.- September 30th 2015.
Submission deadline.- September 30th 20:00 h GMT + 1:00.
Winner announcement.- October 30th 2015.

Prizes.-

A total prize of 4.500 € will be distributed as follows:
3.000 € for the first prize.
1.000 € for the second prize.
500 € for the third prize.
10 Honorable Mentions.

Site.-

Pulpit Rock is located at 600 meters above Lysefjorden, one of the most amazing places in Northern Europe. Not recommended for people with vertigo, it is a natural area of contemplation with about 25x25 meters.

The enclave has no barriers separating us from the abyss, or alternative routes to a long walk of about five hours from one of the villages nearby (Jørpeland).

Program.-

- Area of contemplation or pointview, where the main character is nature. It can be one space or to be sparsed, it can also can consider accessibility, tours, consolidation or modification of the existing, including its variability over time.

- A small space of about 50 square meters in area: supplies, room and restaurant and toilets.

Presentation.-

Participants must submit a single A1 (59.4 x 84.1 cm) landscape (horizontal).
