Where are the past urban utopias now? The concern about designing settlement nodes has evolved with the times, always adapted to the specifics of the location where it was being developed. A contemporary approach to utopia is understanding the concept as a fiasco, a failed adventure that was reduced to an expansionist and nationalist hint.

In this context, the group exhibition 'So-Called Utopias', included as an activity of the Chicago Architecture Biennial, expresses a new contemporary architectural dream. The exhibition, organized by the curator Yesomi Umolu for Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts (Chicago, USA) gallery, proposes an assimilation of utopian visions in postcolonial and postindustrial environments.

The works are presented in multiple formats: video, photography, drawing and sculpture. This multiplicity is also enriched by the groupal qua where each of the authors - Jonathas de Andrade, Sammy Baloji, LaToya Ruby Frazier, Sreshta Rit Premnath and Melanie Smith, among others - expressed different view of this reality.
