Taking advantage of the summer heat we present an interesting initiative: some benches that collect rainwater which is then reused for irrigation. How well we come now!

The idea is to take advantage of the outdoor forniture, which is always outdoors, so that in continous contact with the weather. The outside skin allows the water goes into it, acting like a tank which contains it for using it later.

The bench, two meters long and more or less one meter wide, can contain approximately 500 water liters. This can increase until 1000 or 1500 water liters in some models.

There are different benches models, according with where it is going to be installed. One of it has an underground tank, only in case that a little excavation could be possible, and it has a bigger storage capacity, and there are other models which are directly placed over the ground.

The Water Bench provides public seating and collect rainwater to irrigate the surrounding outdoor space independent of public water supply. Prototypes of the Water Bench will be installed throughout Mumbai, where they can be seen through 2014.
