The Madrid Río model is being copied by other cities to regenerate, not always well considered, rivers. Medellin launched a few months Concurso Público Internacional Anteproyecto Urbanístico, Paisajístico, Arquitectónico y sus Estudios Complementarios del Parque del Río Medellín / "The International Public Competition Draft Urban, Landscape, Architectural and Complementary Studies Medellín River Park" for the purpose of selecting the best proposal for urban development and architectural landscape for the Medellin River Park.
On August 9, the jury of Martha Cecilia Fajardo, Peter G. Rowe, Luis Fernando Arbelaez, Manuel Delgado, Ginés Garrido, Jorge Perez and Laura Spinadel, review in three days a total of 342 panels of the 57 proposals submitted. For this second phase, the four selected initial ideas develop to the level of blueprint for the midstream industry, delivering their ideas the next day 7. The result will be announced officially approx. two weeks later, on October 23.
