The land chosen to locate the project is located on the docks 30-32 of the bay San Francisco, currently unused. This is a particularly appropriate location for this use because it is uniquely connected to the main roads of the city, allowing fire trucks move quickly and effectively to almost anywhere in the city. At the same time it is on the water of the bay and away from tall buildings, allowing actuation of them by sea and air when needed.
The new fire station will not only be a practical space thinked to respond to the needs of firefighters, but must become an icon of the city, a remembrance of the tragedy lived but also of how the city was able to rise from the ashes, a building that everyone associated with the image of the fire department and not only to thecitizens of San Francisco.
