"Common Ground" organized by la Biennale di Venezia curated by David Chipperfield for the 13th International Architecture Exhibition opens to the public. The exhibition will take place from Wednesday August 29th until Sunday November 25th 2012, at the Giardini della Biennale and at the Arsenale. Today is being launched many activities and pavilions as Juan Herreros with his “Dialogue Architecture”, an installation he will exhibit at the Central Pavillion (I Giardini). Following the motto “Common Ground”, suggested by the curator and director of the Biennale, David Chipperfield, Juan Herreros will exhibit a unique mise-en-scene highlighting the relationship between architecture and other disciplines, while at the same time serving as a retrospective of his career.

Common Ground will consist of a single exhibition through the Central Pavilion at the Giardini and the Arsenale: David Chipperfield will present an Exhibition with 63 projects, by architects, photographers, artists, critics and scholars. Many of them responded to his invitation with original proposals and installations expressly created for this Biennale, involving in their projects other colleagues with whom they share a Common Ground. There will be a total of 110 participants.

The International Jury is composed by: Wiel Arets (Netherlands), Kristin Feireiss (Germany), Robert A.M. Stern (USA), Benedetta Tagliabue (Italy) and Alan Yentob (Great Britain), The President of the Jury will be nominated by its members at the first meeting.

The International Jury will attribute the following prizes:
Golden Lion for best National Participation;
Golden Lion for best project in the International Exhibition Common Ground;
Silver Lion for a promising young architect in the International Exhibition Common Ground.

The inauguration and awards ceremony of the 13th International Architecture Exhibition will be held on Wednesday August 29th at the Giardini, with the conferral of the official awards assigned by the international Jury.

During the 13th International Architecture Exhibition, two online competitions will be launched on the website www.labiennalechannel.org:
COMMON GROUND / Photography: for the best photo of the Exhibition (this competition is open exclusively to accredited photographers).
COMMON GROUND / Essay: for the best critical essay on the Exhibition.

The spanish presence at the Biennale is completed by SpainLab, Juan Herreros with “Dialogue Architecture” and Rafael Moneo. A total of eight architectural studios are chosen by Antón García-Abril, to form part of the exhibition at Spanish Pavilion. Juan Herreros and Rafael Moneo, selected by Chipperfield, will join the architects that are going to present their work at the Central Pavilion.
