Tribe Studio responds to its suburban setting, the interior features a series of of diagrammatic house-sections that celebrate the domestic setting. Formally, the house is a simple gable extrude, clad on the street ends in face brickwork. Internally, the spaces are a playful study in volume and light. The result of a close relationship between the architects and the client, as well as a very specific brief.
Tribe Studio worked together with a disabled access consultant, the client, her physiotherapist and occupational therapist in the delivery of this residence. Generously sized spaces allow for easy turning, and living zones often overlap to reduce circulation through the house. Joinery functions doubly well, providing effective and concealed support in place of excessive use of grab rails. High north-facing windows draw in natural light, while cross-ventilation cools the house in the summer.
Formally, house Maher is a simple gable extrude, clad on the street ends in face brickwork.
The house form is a response to the suburban setting dominated by federation and 1920s houses that address leafy, established rear gardens. The interior is a rich world of views through spaces and within spaces for our wheelchair-bound client.
