The Friday team, a spinoff of the University of Coimbra, proposes a small vacation house to enjoy any aquatic environment. Floating, modular, autonomous, transportable and environmentally friendly.

This proposal for a floating house presented by Friday has all the characteristics of a typical house. Its design as a modular system lets to create multiple configurations, a space from 60 to 108 sqm, in order to be adapted to the different needs of users. The design reduces energy needs and allows a 7 days autonomy by using solar battery panels. The water that is stored is only for food preparation and personal hygiene, while for the rest of needs it is taken from the watercourse where the house is located.

Description of the project by Friday.

Modularity
A romantic gateway for two or a mobile house in the middle of a lake for the entire family or a group of friends, with a fixed width of 6 meters and lengths ranging from 10 to 18 meters, the possibilities are almost endless. Whether you want a cozy studio or a fully furnished three-bedroom house with two bathrooms, the freedom of nature is on your doorstep.

Mobility
With two small outboard motors, you can take your time to enjoy your trip at a moderate speed of 3 knots and wake up in a different place every day.

Transportability
The modular design of the house means that all its components, including equipment and furniture, can be easily stored in two standard containers and shipped to almost anywhere on the planet.

Eco-consciousness
It has been designed with low environmentally impactful materials and technologies that reduce its carbon footprint and lower its energy needs. It has a compact activated sludge wastewater treatment plant.

Autonomy
When charged, the house is self-sufficient for at least seven days. It produces up to 80% of its annual energy needs (100% for over six months).

Life and leisure
With a fully equipped kitchen for everyday use, heat pump and AC generator, a barbecue on the upper terrace for sunny days and a wine cellar and pellet stove to keep you warm on cold days, the list of facilities included guarantees a great living experience, whether you choose to use it as a base camp for numerous outdoor activities such as sailing, paddling, water skiing or fishing, or simply as a treasure island to relax.
