The fusion between fashion and architecture is much more common than it might seem. The participation in the design of the scenarios of big fashion brands and also in the designs of collections is something that is constantly produced. On this occasion Madrid-COS will launch on October 14 "Archive Editions, inspired by Bauhaus", a capsule collection that celebrates the 100th anniversary of Bauhaus and the first of the Archive Editions series of COS.

The Bauhaus school was founded 100 years ago, with the idea of creating a Gesamtkunstwerk (‘total work of art’) where all the arts, including architecture, would be integrated into one. The school led a vanguard movement and trained a generation of revered artists during its fourteen years of history at the beginning of the 20th century, many of which have been a constant inspiration for the brand since it was founded 12 years ago.
To celebrate the anniversary, COS conducted a research process in the archives in order to create a capsule collection of 13 pieces -6 for women, 6 for men and an accessory- inspired by the Bauhaus school and its artists.

The form follows the function, through a closet that reflects the Bauhaus design principles and the core features of COS: modernity, functionality and design. Focusing on the geometric shapes by which the movement was recognized, the collection is also presented in a monochromatic color palette reminiscent of the school building itself, alternating grays and whites.

Each of the pieces has been selected from the archives and reinvented to adapt it to the new times. In women's garments we can see a minimalist design that includes innovative techniques to create shapes, details and novel cuts. Combining tradition and modernity, the men's collection refers to ergonomic design with adjustable functions and hidden closures.
