The C79 housing program, designed by QUEIRO Arquitectura, is divided into two categories: day and night spaces. Both the ground floor and the basement have this first category, on the contrary, the night spaces are stacked in a kind of boxes of different materials joined through walkways and located in the upper parts.
The skylight of the central atrium rests on a structure of metal beams wrapped in aluminum sheets, generating an interesting set of reflections and shadows inside the different rooms of the house.
Description of project by QUEIRO Arquitectura
C79 is a project for a house between party walls on a narrow and deep plot in Triana. The environment has no outstanding references, and the urban neighborhood is composed bu a subdivision of rectangular plots with two-story buildings.
The plot had little facade and the client was demanding privacy from the outside, so the roof plane is assumed as a horizontal facade that allows the house to be bathed in light. The section of the house acquires a leading role.
The daytime program is developed throughout the ground floor and extends to the basement, both planes are joined by an elongated double height that catches the light coming from the skylights.
The night program is stacked in boxes of different materials, depending on the level of privacy, the different bedrooms are connected by walkways. The library is located in an extension of the corridor from which the dining room can be seen.
In the entrance hall is situated the first part of the staircase with flying steps and a sculptural vocation, under a skylight located on the terrace of the master bedroom, the next section of the staircase is located tangential to the house to provide visual depth to the natural path of the house.
The ground floor is understood as an open space that is organized through the voids in the ceiling, the dining room is located between the kitchen and the living room under a triple-height space from which the entire house can be seen.
A structure of metal beams wrapped in aluminum sheets allows the skylight to be supported in the central atrium, causing reflections and changing shadows on the walls throughout the day and the different seasons of the year.
