The winner of the Pritzker Prize Álvaro Siza Vieira, the winner of the National Architecture Prize Oriol Bohigas, the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award of the VIII BIAU Juan Navarro Baldeweg and the winner of Cervantes Prize Jorge Edwards will offer the lectures.
"The architecture and the city have been the subject of reflection and intervention by Siza, Bohigas and Baldeweg for a period of time when there have been major social, economic and architectural changes. They will contribute to BIAU with their rich experience and knowledge, supplemented with the reflective gaze of the writer Jorge Edwards, who has had the opportunity to live in many cities on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, writing about architects and buildings," say the coordinators of the BIAU, Francisco Burgos, Ginés Garrido, Ángela Garcia de Paredes and Ignacio Pedrosa.
Along with lectures and discussions with these teachers "who are pointing the way that other people can transit later," will be held panel discussions and conversations with professionals whose work has been rewarded in the eighth and previous BIAU and other personalities linked to Latin American architecture and urbanism, as delegates and BIAU juries.
The Gran Teatro Falla has been selected to host the core program activities, while the Oratory of San Felipe Neri will be the house where acts will be opened and closed. The VIII BIAU exposure will be located in Baluarte de la Candelaria, in order to collect all the works, research, publications, videos and projects for students of architecture awarded in this call.
Registration for the VIII BIAU will cost 30 euros. Several Spanish universities recognize credits of free choice to students who attend academic activities of the Biennale. In addition, the headquarters of the College of Architects of Cadiz will host a program of activities for which registration is unnecessary. These include the presentation of three experiences in the field of research. Also it host activities about the state of the profession, the relationship between Gastronomy and Architecture Design and RETE, Association for the Collaboration between Ports and Cities.
