Heatherwick Studio considers physical making a core requirement of its design process. The studio uses model making and 1:1 prototyping to generate, develop and realise its ideas throughout every scale and genre of project.
The studio is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and versatile model maker/designer maker to join part of a wider team dedicated to the exploration, communication and realisation of projects. The role will primarily involve model making on a day to day project level and model making to presentation standard but will frequently require exploration in differing disciplines.
Candidates are expected to work both within a team and individually and to actively engage with the projects in developing design through making. The candidate must be able to communicate with confidence, possess good problem solving and planning skills and have an active interest in design. Proficient 2D and 3D computing skills are essential, with a preference for Rhino. Knowledge of Rapid Prototyping, laser cutting and further digital manufacture process is also essential. The candidate must be experienced in the safe use of workshop machinery.
