The Brick and Tile Architecture Awards of Hispalyt, which have the collaboration of Endesa, have as objectives to value the architectural production of our country made with face brick and tile, and to give a greater diffusion and social repercussion of the works most significant during the corresponding period.

In the 14th edition of the Brick Architecture Prize, three ex aequo works have won, they are next works.-

First prize ex aequo: Restoration of the old church of Vilanova de la Barca (Lleida) in the multipurpose room of AleaOlea Arquitectos. The Jury of this Prize has valued the works, highlighting the interesting use of brick as a differential element of the original structures, as well as its use in the interior for its potential as an element of acoustic control.

First prize ex aequo: sports center located in Es Puig den Valls (Balearic Islands) of MCEA Arquitectura. For their part, the members of the jury praised the decision to use ceramic lattices with which the double result of bringing the scale of the building to the human and the urban is achieved.

First prize ex aequo: Cristalerias Planell Civic Center located in Barcelona of the Harquitectes Studio. The members of the Jury have valued the naturalness with which the brick is used and the use of all its virtues as a constructive material, contributing to the project an open system in which even pieces of glass of the same size as the ceramic piece are integrated.

Mention Category "Single-family house": House in Piedrabuena (Ciudad Real) of Muka Arquitectura. The Jury values the good integration with the environment and the contemporary architecture of the powerful ceramic lattices.

Mention Category "Collective housing": Residential complex in Sitges (Barcelona). Urgell Architects. The Jury has highlighted in this work the volumetric treatment, the relation of the brick with other materials and the good execution and study of constructive details.

Mention ex aequo Category "Non-residential": A Bodega Mont Ras (Girona) by the architects Jorge Vidal and Víctor Rahola and Le Jardin Niel (Touluse, France) by Michele & Miquel Architectes. In the Mont Ras Winery, the Jury has taken into consideration the convenience of the wall structures for this semi-buried building, with numerous details in which the ceramic is the protagonist for its qualities of texture, reflection of light and environmental warmth. In the Jardin Niel al Jurado he found it particularly interesting spatial use of the face brick for the urbanization of a park, due to the good resolution of the construction details and the precise adjustment to a defined topography with sensitivity to the site.

The III Prize of Architecture of roof tile in the category of Rehabilitation has fallen in.-

First prize Category "Rehabilitation": Restoration of the Convent of Santo Domingo in Huéscar (Granada) by the architect Elisa Valero. The Jury has highlighted how the new elements contrast for their lightness and do not touch the walls, in an architectural exercise where respect for existing ones is combined with the coherence of traditional construction systems and fidelity to one's own time.

First prize Category "New construction": Single-family housing in Salduero (Soria) by Estudio Hús and La Reina Obrera Arquitectura y Interiorismo. The jury is valued by the good relationship of this contemporary architecture in an environment with a great historical and traditional load with the intersection of the two volumes, one compact, made of stone with tile and small openings and another light, of glass and slats of wood. In addition, they emphasize that the tile roof is integrated into this double approach without seeking either prominence or aesthetics.

Mention Category "Rehabilitation": Single-family house in Cortelazor la Real (Huelva) by Gogo Arquitectos. The Jury recognizes the completeness of the inclusion of the tile recovered in the dividing wall in this small scale work and the adequacy of the rest of the decisions in the choice of façade and interior materials.

Mention Category "New construction": Single-family house "Casa a Tres Augas" in Oza (A Coruña) of Arrokabe Arquitectos. In this work it has been valued that the roof has formed a fundamental role in the geometry of the building from the origin of the project. The volumetric result responds with simplicity to the adequacy of the program with the topography of the plot, but it has not been renounced that the construction of planes, finials and eaves of the roof are as functional as possible.
