Parallel to its exhibition program, in which you can see pieces by artists such as Shepard Fairey (Obey), D * Face, Cranio, Anna Taratiel or Alice Pasquini, URVANITY programs a series of parallel activities; interventions in walls, auctions, a cycle of talks and a very special action.
URVANITY WALLS: INTERVENTIONS IN WALLS (PROJECT TUENTI URBAN ART)
Simultaneously with the URVANITY galleries program, it was carried out in the realization of four murals in different points of Madrid, supported by the sponsorship of Tuenti Urban Art Project. The selected artists are Alexey Luka, Cranio, Jan Kálab and Jana & JS.
The intervention of Alexey Luka (Moscow, 1983), one of the most talented and influential Russian artists in the Russian contemporary art scene, will be done on a large format wall with a height of 14 m at the Changó Discoteca (c / Covarrubias), 42) from February 20th to February 25th.
The young Brazilian artist Fabio de Oliveira Parnaiba (Sâo Paulo, 1982), better known as Cranio, will opt for the facade of the Asunción Rincón School (c / Jesús Maestro, 1), which will flood with his personal and identifiable characters from February 17th to February 24th.
For his part, the abstract artist Jan Kaláb (Prague, 1978) -pioneer in taking urban art to the countries of the East- will choose the Barceló Market (Calle de Mejía Lequerica, 10) as a canvas for his geometric graffiti laden with dynamism. The intervention will be from February 10th to February 13th.
Finally, the duo of Austro-German artists based in Salzburg Jana & Js will delight passers-by with their impressive and characteristic architectural landscapes at number 9 of the Almond Crossing.
PROGRAM URVANITY- MAHOU TALKS: PRESENTATIONS, CONFERENCES, PROJECTIONS AND MORE
URBANITY has developed together with Mahou a program of conferences, debates and services conceived with the purpose of throwing light on the contemporary creation that has its foundation in the urban context, as well as to make a composition to the public of the different experiences and aesthetics.
SOLIDARITY AUCTIONS: PANELS OF ARTISTS AND TABLES OF INTERVENED SKATES
On Tuesday, the 27th, at 11:00 a.m. in the LASEDE COAM auditorium, a first auction will be held by Duran Online. There, attendees can bid up the four panels that were presented on the day of the opening of URVANITY, made by the graffiti artists Suso 33, Musa, Fratelli Moca and Belin. The benefits obtained from the auction will be donated to the NGOs participating in the SOMOS 2014 campaign included in the Spanish Association of Fundraising, whose main objective is the development of philanthropy in our country. Currently, a total of 126 large and small organizations from the sectors of cooperation, social action, culture, environment, research and education are part of the AEFR.
Also during the fair, will be auctioned 25 skateboards, which can be seen in the exhibition space, intervened by a total of twenty-three urban artists: Animalitoland, Kaufman, Parsec, SAM, SUE, Akos, Milo, Woizo, Pseena, midday, CF88 , Little Mad, Rosh, Roice 183, Ose, Enaer, Zeklo, Nubian, Polar, Afat, Arthur Plateau, Contiez Virginie and Mr X. The bid was cataloged by the funds collected in a Roule Petit Ougandais (RPO), association that makes possible the construction of skateparks in Africa.
ARTISTIC INTERVENTION OF SUE975
Sue975 (Madrid) is one of the pioneers of abstraction in national urban art. From its origins as graffiti artists in its purest sense, a personal language has arrived that has traveled to different branches of geometric abstraction to unravel in a vision of its own, and strongly linked to the essences of urban art from the beginnings of post-minimalism.
The artist has prepared for URBANITY a large installation (date and place to be announced) in which he returns to investigate the first plastics of his career, such as concrete and painting, in order to pay homage to urban art.
Sue975 has received several awards and has been selected in various certificates of urban art, always providing a personal view closer to the installable languages than to large mural productions. He has also given lectures and written articles on urban art theory and artistic appropriation.
