Adapting his own dystopian novel, published in 2015 by the publisher Pepitas de Calabaza, José Luis Cuerda imagines his latest film, "Tiempo después" a future reduced to an architectural hybrid, a building  with tower shape (mix the headquarters of the Institute of Cultural Heritage of Spain and the building of Torres Blancas) raised in the middle of the desert.
In this way and finishing the year, in which the centenary of one of the referents of the Madrid and Spanish architecture, Francisco Javiez Sáenz Oíza was celebrated and beginning another one, in which the figure of Fernando Higueras will be remembered, the two architects have become indirect protagonists of this comedy, for their well-known works "the crown of thorns" in the University City and "Torres Blancas" in the America Av, in Madrid.

It is the year 9177 and the whole world has been reduced to an imposing building, in the midst of a desert landscape surrounded by an impoverished periphery inhabited by all the unemployed and hungry of the cosmos (a metaphor of our current situation), who survive with a salt cellar in this environment. The characters in this story are: an unconscious unemployed, a ridiculous janitor, a championed king, a mayor half lion, an obvious couple of the civil guard, priests, an illustrated barber and, it should be noted, a love story.

The headquarters of this social group, "the living forces", is based on a hybrid formed by the two buildings mentioned above, in fact almost all the interiors are of the popularly known as ""la corona de espinas / the crown of thorns" or current headquarters Headquarters of the Institute of the Cultural Heritage of Spain, projected by Fernando Higueras. An environment for acid criticism, intelligent and hard, and yet nothing to do with the clumsy and dull text made recently by Stephen Bayley.

A great politico-social-philosophical film, which makes you laugh upside down, because when you realize it, you discover that that laughter is pure nervousness, for the discovery of so many realities trampled and put on a chain, which are stark images of our reality.

"What is mine is not surrealism, but hitting a log to logic, fajar with her body to body and twist the neck until he vomits his last arguments," Cuerda wrote years ago, who, as some say, "le fluyen las ideas como a los santos la gracia".

Time later deserves a prominent place among the best of Spanish cinema in 2018. Although some criticize it because its humor is under the scrutiny of the defenders of political correctness and therefore some have wanted more, considering that its vocation of transgression has been "soft."

SYNOPSIS
 
In 9177, a thousand years up, a thousand years down - that is not necessary to get your fingers involved with these minutiae - the whole world - and according to some authors, the universe too - has been reduced to a single Representative Building and a few shabby suburbs inhabited by all the unemployed and hungry of the cosmos. Among all these unfortunates, José María decides that, with the difficulties that have to be saved and through the sale in the Representative Building of a delicious lemonade that he makes, another world is possible.
