The II Edition of Construction Week, organized by the Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM), will offer three days of international conferences, workshops, real estate events, roundtable discussions, and exhibitions, in addition to the MATCOAM awards gala and an exhibition area to discover the latest innovations in the construction sector.

For this second edition, which will be held in person from March 25 to 27, 2025, at the headquarters of the Official College of Architects of Madrid, the "International Observatory" has been created. This is a series of three conferences by leading European architects, featuring B-architecten, Dietmar Feichtinger, and Mikhail Riches. Two new landmark projects in Madrid will be presented: the Library of a Thousand Suns and the La Paz University Hospital.

The Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM), through its Building Department (MATCOAM), is organizing the II Construction Week from March 25 to 27, 2025. This initiative aims to strengthen the organization's commitment to the future of construction and, with this second edition, reaffirms its position as an unmissable event for architects, developers, builders, manufacturers, specifiers, real estate industry leaders, the public sector, and government institutions.

The headquarters of the Official College of Architects of Madrid will host this second edition, designed as a boutique event with a prime location in the center of Madrid.

This new edition presents a program structured around three major themes that address the main challenges of the sector: innovation, sustainability, and renovation. The aim is to promote a think tank focused on the future of the profession, focusing on the challenges facing architecture and construction, such as decarbonization, industrialization, and artificial intelligence, and highlighting new materials and production processes.

International Observatory
In this second edition of Construction Week, the MATCOAM building department has developed an "International Observatory," consisting of a series of three lectures where leading European studios will share their vision and experience.

The first lecture will be given by Sven Grooten, a Belgian architect and co-founder of the renowned B-architecten studio. He will present several success stories in urban renovation and regeneration, and then engage in a discussion with José María de la Cuadra Osborne, a Spanish architect and founder of FRAME, a studio based in Spain and Belgium.

It has received numerous awards and distinctions for its work. Additionally, during Construction Week, 15 models will be exhibited, accompanied by several panoramic videos showcasing projects built and under development by this architectural firm.

A framework for showcasing innovative architecture and materials
Furthermore, at the II Construction Week, there will be an exhibition space with the participation of 50 companies, where visitors can learn about the latest developments in the sector through the exhibitors. The design of the space stands reinforces the event's sustainability by reusing the modular hexagonal floor plan developed for the first edition and inspired by the Hexagon Pavilion by Corrales and Molezún. This reduces material and waste, remaining faithful to the principles of sustainability and circularity that characterize this event.

In addition, attendees will be able to explore five thematic exhibitions: FRIENDLY MATERIALS, curated by the PMMT architecture studio; INNOVATIVE MATERIALITY, by the firms Material Bank and MATTER; MATCOAM Awards, which will showcase the finalist projects selected by the jury in each of the competition's categories—renovation, sustainability, and innovation; CONSTRUIR, a selection of models accompanied by panoramic videos by DFA Dietmar Feichtinger Architects; and, finally, ESSENTIAL HOMES, the exhibition of a prototype of a home designed to meet basic human needs, curated by the Norman Foster Foundation.
