Taking advantage of the sales season, the Spanish brand Bershka launched a special project to the young German designer Jule Waibel. Now, the young German fashion designer takes a new step and recreates her origami paper dresses in chiffon.

Jule Waibel transforms simple sheet materials into three-dimensional objects, with the additional capability that they can transform, expand and contract.

Jule Waibel says "I made the dress in fabric because I wanted to give the project more life," and added "The paper is really light but stiff and edgy. It was quite tricky to find the right fabric that still expands and contracts while you're wearing it, and keeps the big pleated geometric shapes."

From Paper to Reality.

Inspired by Mary Poppins’ seemingly never-ending bag, Jule made a range of transforming objects for her collection ‘Entfaltung’. Made out of Tyvek paper, this collection has since been exhibited in various exhibitions as well as the windows of Bershka fashion stores all around the world. Jule has developed her collection further with the addition of new pieces made from fabric.

A dress that changes its shape according to the movement of the body, an expandable bag and an umbrella, are all made of pleated fabric. The project celebrates the beauty found between geometry, transformation and play.
