The Atelier José Andrade Rocha studio presents a new rear façade as an extension of the house, respecting the existing one, including the façade as another layer in the history of the building. This new façade seeks to connect with the natural elements of the garden, such as the earth, water or the sun. In addition to giving both spaces a function of leisure and meeting between the users of the house.
For the interior of the house, conventional materials are used such as structural wood panels, slightly blue industrial flooring, painted steel sheet, wooden frames, Sintra limestone and river pebbles.

Project description by Atelier José Andrade Rocha
The project was developed during the pandemic. The house reflects a desire to promote meetings and to go beyond the determinism of functions, seeking an imagined joy. The street façade remains unchanged, offering clues about the intervention. The rear façade, the result of the extension, is presented as new, not in opposition to what exists, but as another layer in the history of the building. A renewed connection with the garden is explored, as a prerogative to celebrate what at that time seemed vital: the sun, the earth, the water and leisure.
Inside the building, a universe of conventional materials is repeated and modified: structural wooden panels protected with green paint, slightly blue industrial flooring, painted steel sheet, wooden frames, Sintra limestone and river pebbles.
