The news known via The New York Times is not very wide. The website by the company, does not report much and briefly announced that the center will be closed until further notice, have even suspended school classes in dance, (the oldest in the United States) and classes for full-time programs are on an adjusted schedule. The New York Times says that among the damaged material are sceneries by Isamu Noguchi, Isamu Noguchi, the designer who made a dozen sets for the company between 1944 and 1988. Isamu Noguchi who was always linked to art, architecture and design is known by his furniture, was made with his own hands the scenery of Clytemnestra and according to a company spokesman, has also been damaged. Cave of the Heart, Embattled Garden, and Errand Into the Maze are other damaged works in the basement of the headquarters of the company to which the institution had moved this summer. Luckily, two of the most important scenery, the Appalachian Springs and by Chronicle have been saved, because the company is toured the United States.

And the other hand, Nacho Duato will create a new work for the Martha Graham Dance Company in 2013. Commissioned by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a part of the Company’s Myth and Transformation program, the piece will feature music by Arvo Pärt and will premiere on the same program as Martha Graham’s newly reconstructed The Rite of Spring. Wendy Whelan, principal dancer with the New York City Ballet, will join the Graham Company as guest artist for these performances on April 26-27, 2013, which conclude the Carolina Performing Arts celebration “The Rite of Spring at 100.”
