LLPS Architects presents the Gran Canary Arena. The project establishes in the environment a building-object that faces up to the urban landscape, invading it and, in the same time, working as a reference, trying to join together all the urban chaos: from the pedestrian sketch, up to the wheel track traffic in surrounding its perimeter. The plot tries to respond to the city creating an urban space that work as a meeting place and an urban square with different possibilities.

The LLPS Architects’ building can be considered not only as a finishing touch of the Sports City in Siete Palmas but also as a characteristic object of the urban area, which generates its language. The constant dialectics between the building and the square set up a link that forms a unique system: the building cannot be understood without the urban space, and on the contrary.

The Multi-Purpose Palace declares itself as a categorical and geometrical place on the western hillside of the plot.
The plan has a total surface area of total de 51,118.00 m², 11,485 m² of which belong to the pavilion, whose dimensions are 123.50 metres long by 93.00 metres wide and 21.00 metres high. The installations have space for more than 10,000 spectators 33 toilets, 270 parking spaces besides 2,000 metres for buses. Likewise, it has 725 m² intended for the news media, a 1,185 m² skylight that allows the practice of activities in daylight, as well as 986 m² of curtain walls, which allow the possibility of not visible the empty seats with a scant.

The place has been a host of important events such as the World Basketball Championship in 2014 and the final stage of the King Basketball Cup in 2015.
