Sala Canal de Isabel II in Madrid displays the work of photographer, publisher, filmmaker, artist, poet, entrepreneur and gourmet Leopoldo Pomés (Barcelona, 1931) in a retrospective exhibition entitled 'Flashback'. More than 140 photographs, over 50 commercials and varied graphic documentation in a unique place, the former Canal elevated water tank.

The exhibition reviews 60 years of a career that began with an exhibition at the Galeries Laietanes in 1955 and takes a chronological journey through the major issues that define the path of the photographer.

Flashback takes us from the first steps of Leopoldo Pomés with the group Dau al Set (Tàpies, Cuixart, Ponç and Brossa) at the avant-garde of painting to his characteristic studio photography that exudes elegance, sophistication and sensuality, through their publishing projects that helped him enter the field of humanistic photography and social photography.

This exhibition is the result of extensive research through the photographer's archives that has rescued abundant unpublished material. This material is presented for the first time along with some of his most famous and iconic works in a display that features over 140 photographs, several commercials, graphic documentation and an interview with the photographer.

In addition, on the occasion of this exhibition, Encuentros en Canal will be held, with guided tours by the hand of the curator and specialized personalities linked to the work of Leopoldo Pomes including Julia GuillamonPepe Font de MoraPublio López Mondejar and Laura Terrè. Guided tours for groups are also available on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12.00 h, and Saturdays at 12.00h for individual visitors.
