The competitors’ task is to create an overall plan for the travel and service centre area that is of high quality in terms of its services and congruence with the cityscape. The travel and service centre area must incorporate the following elements: a travel and service centre that serves different modes of public transport; easy accessibility by different modes of travel; pleasant urban spaces as well as high-quality office, service and housing construction. This is an ideas competition.
We are looking for design teams that include experts on city planning, traffic planning and architectural master planning. In addition, it is a requirement that the competing teams have expertise in the areas of real estate business and the calculation of building costs.
The deadline for submitting requests to participate is 3:00 p.m. on 17 February 2014. On the basis of the requests to participate, five competing teams will be selected to take part in the contest. The contest period for the selected candidates will run from 17 March – 27 June 2014. The results will be published in October 2014.
The City Centre Project (Economic and Urban Development, City of Tampere) is responsible for the contest arrangements.
