Jennyfher Alvarado Figueroa and Álvaro González Serrano created a raised pavilion made of wood, using as a complement an interesting set of red textile elements that distinguish and give the pavilion a clear identity. Textile elements that architects interpret as symbols of everyday life, and that also remind us of the curtain of the Mies van der Rohe pavilion in Barcelona, and of the one who was surely the author of them, Lilly Reich, or the reform of the Town Hall of José Juan Barba.
The pavilion invites people to gather around the table, to debate while eating, while gatherings take place around the table, something very characteristic in the Mediterranean and in America. An action that Jennyfher Alvarado Figueroa and Álvaro González Serrano have intelligently transferred to this field of vineyards to enjoy the views, framed by red ribbons that make up a mat.
After opening the curtain, a domestic experience is revealed, where the red curtains and the carpet act as a transition between the exterior and the interior. The experimentation of the project is summarized in several key steps: first start by ascending to have control of the landscape and be aware of the creation of two ecosystems.

Once elevated, the opening of strategic holes in the façade captures an ever-present landscape establishing an almost magical connection between nature and the built environment. A space that, looking inwards, orbits around the table.
The architects implemented an intelligent modulation for the construction that allows the majority of the panels to be reused, reducing waste after disassembly. Ultimately, the pavilion becomes a homogeneous, modular space that blends seamlessly into the landscape.

Description of project by Estudio JAAG
A raised table in the landscape is a temporary architecture project that aims to find domestic meeting space in the productive landscapes of La Rioja.
A red carpet transitions from the landscape to a found domestic space, behind the curtain appears a raised table, where visitors gather to share an experience through the senses and create ties with the context. Hollows in the façade reflect the movement of the interior, but without competing with the importance of the landscape, these views are framed with a subtle red ribbon, which links the ever-present context with the interior activity. Odors permeate the interior of the space, delicate notes that refer to the quality of the product and past family experiences around a table.

The volume emerges from the vineyards, placing itself in a control position, from where one can observe the majesty of the landscape and the protective and affectionate treatment it receives from Bodegas LAN, which consequently translates into the quality of the product. A machine for generating experiences and connecting with the landscape. A subtle built intervention, and a landscape intervention, a red carpet, that extends, guides, and introduces.
The elevated volume generates two situations, one superior, human and inhabited, and the other inferior, natural that is respected. A volume that orders the landscape and its elements.
Project process
1. Rise of the volume: The space rises, seeking control of the landscape, and views and creating two ecosystems.
2. Search for the landscape: Holes are opened looking for an ever-present landscape, linking nature with the product.
3. A shared table: A large table, an element that organizes, fraternity, for 6 lunches and 6 dinners.
4. Domestic experience: the curtain rises! And behind, there is the quality of a home. A transitional red element.
5. Modulation: It is modulated so that 33 of the 40 panels can be used again, as there are no cut-offs. At the table: A pavilion, of congregation, homogeneous, modular, that participates in the landscape.

Constructive process
The construction process responds to its temporal condition, so that the same material, the wood, is conjugated in different ways.
To facilitate the construction work and subsequent recycling of the materials themselves, the "Balloon Frame" is applied as a response to the construction of the structure, made up of 10 cm x 7.5 cm wooden slats. On these, the panels are superimposed, generating the exterior enclosure. The structure is modulated in such a way that 33 of the 40 panels can be used again, as they have not been cut or significantly modified.
The idea of leaving views and highlighting the joints is translated into a series of red metal plates that generate different typical solutions, very easy to execute for the different types of encounters.
Model
Model made of wood applying laser cutting. In it, the constructive simplicity of the set and its relationship with the human scale, are put to the test.
