The latest photo exhibition of Antón Goiri, which goes under the name of "Concrete", can be visited until Saturday 12 December at Mondo Gallery (Madrid, Spain). The photographic set explores the spaces formed by the materiality of concrete, uncovering the underlying elegance that hides under the raw aspect of the material.

The exhibited photographs of the Basque artist Antón Goiri at Mondo Gallery (Madrid, Spain) transport the viewer into a magical atmosphere which goes beyond the spatial reality of the photographed rooms. This process of escape has strong visual and sensory connotations, creating a narrative reality inspired by novels and movies.

Description of the exhibition by Mondo Gallery

MONDO GALERIA presents in Madrid a new exhibit by Antón Goiri. In his new works the vasc photographer presents his own vision projected over spaces, playing with perception and keeping attention over the thin line existing in between reality and fiction.

As an idilic hero Antón Goiri overtakes a deep world. Invinting us to his abyssal journey from where he extracts light, brilliance and shadows.

With his camera he faces sordid scenarios, heavy on reality, which he fills with magic and poetry with the aid of his imagination and his perfect technic.

In his art tunnels and subterranean spaces come alive even if on deep darkness, as if he was and imagery alchemist. In his work we are not facing Ernesto Sabato´s tunnels or those tones from the movie "The Matrix" used by the protagonists to move from one realm to another. In "Concrete" we face tunnels of light, where architecture and construction desapear to get us closer to a dream space locked into David Lynch´s universe or even Nocolas Winding Refn´s one. It is not casual that these images connect with ideas of novels, movies or dreams, because this imagery´s narrative, composed it is composed with precision and with a clear intention to take us far from daily life.

This style used by Goiri to transport us viewers to his space puts him into a more metaphysic dimension than a simple image hunter. This hability puts him in the art space, whare what we see t is not, and it does not pretend, to be what simply it is.

"My head is like an obscure labyrinth. Some times flashes lighten some corridors. I can never know why I end up doing certain things." Ernesto Sábato, "The Tunnel"
