The B720 Fermín Vázquez Arquitectos studio will be in charge of the integral design of the Spanish Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015, after winning the contest of Acción Cultural Española (AC / E) with a proposal "of clear and contained geometry" that the jury merges tradition and innovation.

Chosen among 31 projects presented, the B720 study has designed, under the theme "The language of taste" because "it offers an intelligent solution apparently simple to the technical, spatial, functional and thematic complexity of this Expo", a building with structural porticos of wood that remain in sight and an interior finish that refer to the tradition using materials such as cork, esparto and barrel wood. The pavilion will display its contents on 2,104 square meters, proposing different routes for visitors, which complement each other in a continuous idea of the exhibition offer.

The statement of AC / E Acción Cultural Española points out the proposal that is "a pavilion of clear and contained geometry, a fusion of the qualities that our country exports: tradition and innovation." This duality creates a permeable, attractive and flexible space, incorporating a free and open area such as a patio of orange trees, another element of identity of the Spanish culture. This resounding implantation manages to create an easily comprehensible pavilion, generator of memory, whose structure of porticos generates a repetition effect that reinforces the singularity, resulting attractive and impactful "

The team formed by the winners has a tripartite structure: Fermín Vázquez, director of the Project and B720, responsible for the development of the architecture will be Peco Mulet, also of 720 and the person in charge of the exhibition project Jordi Hernández, of the firm Indissoluble.

In addition to the winning project, offered at 918,146 euros and with a prize of 12,000€ included in the fees, the jury awarded a second prize of 6,000 euros for Álvarez Riaño, Terradas Cepeda and Suárez Corche and three honorable mentions of 3,000 euros each. for Aybar Mateos Fundc, Álvaro Planchuelo Martínez de Haro and La granja design, Barceló Balanzo arquitectes.
