Anna Ramos, director of the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, Georg Pendl, president of the Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE) and Ilaria Valente, president of the European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE), congratulated the winners, finalists, shortlisted and participants and highlighted the essential role of education in a continuously changing world.
“There has been a very high level and scope in all the submissions. As a jury, we were impressed on how students are not afraid to tackle the most important issues such as climate change, migration, water usage, transformation of long-term projects such as nuclear waste sites and also sensitive briefs for burial sites and religious worship. Other more straight forward briefs were also tackled, being robustly researched and beautifully illustrated, showcasing considered solutions. All finalist and winner projects are excellent and deserving and the YTAA provides you all, as emerging architects, a wonderful platform to start an ambitious career where you will have the opportunity to translate and design spatial environments that our communities and planet deserve. I wish everybody a prosperous future, while staying critical, staying speculative and acting creative.”
Words from Martine De Maeseneer about the Winners and participants, Chairwoman of the YTAA Jury 2020.
