The Fundación Japón, Madrid, the Consejo España Japón and the Universidad Valladolid present the international workshop: La Ciudad Intermedia, which will be held in Valladolid from November 19th-30th of 2012.
It will consist of a series of lectures and a workshop aimed at students of Spanish Architecture Schools.
The work item will be La Ciudad Intermedia: designing urban structures formed by housing cells destined to cover social emergencies due to disasters or marginalization. The number of participants is limited to 20 people and aimed at students who are in their final years or enrolled at Final Year Project. 10 seats are reserved for students of the E.T.S. de Arquitectura of Valladolid and and 10 seats for students from other universities. Enrollment and accommodation are free y participants will be selected rigorously by academic records of applicants for which will be appointed a selection committee.
The objectives of the international workshop will be:
Analyze the phenomena architectural, urban and social comparing European and Japanese trajectory.
Investigate the residencial cell in relation to the phenomenon of the contemporary metropolis.
Investigate the landscape of the ephemeral architectures in contexts related to emergencies and social contingency (poverty, marginalization, natural disasters, etc.).
Concrete proposals materialize in practical working.
