Etherea, designed by Edoardo Tresoldi, is visible over the two weekends of the 2018 Coachella Festival (April 13-15 and April 20-22). Dubbing himself an “artist of Absent Matter,” Italian sculptor Edoardo Tresoldi continues to grow and develop his technique.
Edoardo Tresoldi, well known for his transparent wire mesh sculptures, has unveiled his latest site-specific installation, titled "Etherea," at the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California. Through the use of wire mesh, he's able to mold incredible installations that have found homes around the world, from Abu Dhabi to Paris. Now, he develops his architectural visions as backstage to the 2018 Coachella Festival, where his singular works are placed against the background of California's Colorado Desert.
Etherea is Tresoldi's largest-to-date installation. With Etherea, Tresoldi has proposed an experience in diferent scales, mixing elements of Neoclassical and Baroque architecture into his transparent sculptures, where visitors are immerse themselves in a ghost architecture, in amazing invention. Three transparent “cathedrals,” grow in height from 11 meter to 16,5 meter to a stunning 22 meter.

The “structures” breathe through the clouds and the wind, transferring the cosmic archetype of the sky into ephemeral domes through the language of classic architecture. The broken rhythms of the wire mesh generate sequences of architectural abstractions and amplified points of view. The optical effect changes with the light and atmospheric conditions as well as the perspective of the viewer.
Etherea is the result of the artist's research in the field of music, following others collaborations with international music festivals, including the 2014 Life is Beautiful urban art festival in Las Vegas, USA; the 2015 Roskilde Music and Arts Festival in Denmark; the 2016 Eaux Claires Festival in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA; and the 2017 Derive Festival in Sapri, Italy.
