In the audiovisual media, Region 0 is an informal term for “worldwide.” Region 0 – The Latino Video Art Festival of New York embraces the idea of audiovisual works transcending international frontiers.

Region 0 showcases current trends in the field of video art, highlighting the distinct conceptual and technical approaches of the participating creators. In this sense, the festival offers a cross-section of creative strategies such as deconstruction, recycling, contextualization, abstraction and irony. The result is an X-ray of the present that extends from the personal to the political, taking into account social, economic, historical, technological, and other factors, in the process exploring both the banal and the extraordinary, and rediscovering an imperfect world in which fragments of everyday life are intertwined with historical events or advertising and where literary quotations are sung to the rhythms of rock. Space, time and memory take on a unique shape in these original and cathartic audiovisual offerings, that depart from standard protocols and immerse us in the mundane, studying it, stirring it, tapping it, shaking it and, ultimately, transforming it.

Closing party with music by DJ and artist Silvia Prada.
