A small family-holiday house, very cool, near a pond in the Vysočina region in Czech Republic. A home perfect for a weekend runaway from the city. I think it is lovely and wish I could spend the autumn there myself!

The architecture firm studio A111, lead by Jiří Weinzettl, designed this cottage of maximum built-up area 50 m² and the maximum height of 5 m, of four small elements connected together, inspired by traditional fisherman´s cabins.

This minimum dwelling optimizes its program and cleverly opens to the incredible landscape that surrounds it.

Description of project by Jiří Weinzettl

Inspired by traditional fisherman´s cabins, we designed a small cabin on a bank of a pond, which is surrounded by a picturesque scenery. Its size is limited by the legislation. The maximum built-up area 50 m² and the maximum height of 5 m  require a special ground-plan solution for a family holiday house.

The object consists of four small masses, three of which are connected and one separated, standing nearby. The central space is accessed by a minimal entrance through the kitchen, which also has a built in component of a rather small attic space intended to be a sleeping space for children.

The kitchen offers a beautiful view of the water surface, as well as the bedroom, while the living space also opens up in the other direction, to the sunlit scenery of mature oaks. The individual separated object serves as a storage space with a covered porch suitable for drying fisherman´s nets or just silent contemplation surrounded by natural beauty.

Atelier 111 architekti. Their first collaboration as Atelier 111 dates back to their studies at Faculty of Architecture of Czech Technical University in Prague. Their first success, a special prize in an open architectural competition for treatment of urban space in the city of Tábor in 2002, gave them passion and motivation for further projects. In following years their studio began to expand. Through cooperation with experienced colleagues, they enriched our professional skills. Aside from architectural design of residential, public and industrial buildings, they have been focused on projects of biogas plants since 2006.

In 2010 they founded the Johann Hochreiter company which soon became one of the most important suppliers of biogas plants in the Czech republic. They were greatly enriched from our experiences gained during construction management of technologically complex power plants, as well as in the implementation of their other projects. They offer our services in the field of project design and related administrative activities, assistance in tender for contractors, cooperation and supervision in implementation of construction
