Memory of the project
Lulu’s home project is done in two phases, spaced seven years. The first part, completed in December 2005, is the result of a renovation of a nineteenth century building located in the historic city center of Alicante. The plot is deep, surrounded on three sides by party walls and the main facade opens to a narrow pedestrian street, which consecuence is a very dark housing. The project brings together the last two building stories and divide them vertically to capture the light.
Lulu's Home is one of two penthouses that are born from this operation. The result is a house on three high and narrow levels that are looking for the light to the deck. In this phase, the construction consist on consolidate the structure, rebuild the facade and just ubicate the bedrooms and bathrooms. The house is a fluid space on three floors, finished simply with mud floors and smooth walls, which allows different uses. For a few years the ground floor was an architectural office and the other two stories the architects house.
In late 2010 interior design project begins to supress the hybrid use home and office and to adapt the house to the family’s growth.
