Pier Vittorio Aureli, one of the most noteworthy European architects on today’s scene, will visit the ESARQ School of Architecture as part of the Foros lecture series. With a PhD in Architecture from the Berlage Institute, Pier Vittorio teaches at renowned architecture schools, including the AA School of Architecture in London and Yale University. His research focuses on the relationship between architectural form, political theory and urban history. Pier Vittorio founded DOGMA with Martino Tattara in 2002. In 2006, DOGMA was awarded the Iakov Chernikhov International Foundation’s first-ever Iakov Chernikhov International Prize for best emerging architecture studio.
At Dogma, Pier Vittorio and Martino work on the relationship between architecture and the city as seen in urban planning and large-scale projects. They both consider the combination of teaching and research with daily work in the studio to form an integral part of the architectural profession. In 2005, they won an international competition to design a brand-new city in South Korea for 500,000 inhabitants and are currently conducting research from their studio on Living/Working, a project on domestic architecture that will provide the topic of the lecture.
