The architects Ignacio Pessagno and Lilian Kandus from Estudio PK, are commissioned to design this single-family home located in the Marinas H neighborhood, which is located on the banks of the Luján River, in the Buenos Aires city of Tigre. Thanks to this location, the house will have beautiful views of the Luján.

The project focuses its proposal on the garden that is expanded towards the lagoon, also making it possible for it to act as a hall, connecting the service part with that of the public vine and the street. The stairs will also be protagonists due to their vegetal beginning that ends in the upper part of the house where you can enjoy the views.
Estudio PK designed the elevated home on its first floor, achieving an elevated point for observing the landscape that surrounds the environment and generating a volume with angular shapes reminiscent of nearby boats, which determines the name of the work. The house appears introverted towards the outside, taking advantage of the position on the plot and completely opening to the privileged views of the Luján River.

The structure of the house is made of reinforced concrete, defining two volumes, which highlight the tectonicity and morphologies of the project. The rest of the materials, such as white brick and metal, will give a certain sensation of luminosity that contrasts with the warmth of the wood used for the coverings and enclosures.

Description of project by Estudio PK

Casa Proa is a single-family house located in the Marinas H neighborhood, Tigre.

Rising above the base of the ground floor, a volume of angular forms is positioned like a boat and becomes a vantage point, due to its strategic location on the lot, with views of the Luján River.

Located on a corner lot, the perimeter of the plot is taken, respecting the surroundings and generating a garden that expands towards the lagoon.

In this way, the house has an introverted relationship with the street, but with a fluid interior spatial relationship that opens up at all times towards the river landscape.

On entering through the façade, a courtyard welcomes us into the hall space, which acts as a neck articulating the service and public life blocks on the ground floor.

The route takes us to the living room, where the space opens up and connects fluidly with the garden while limiting the views from the street.

The staircase is one of the main protagonists in the interior of the house: from its vegetated beginning to the courtyard that ends the route, it leads us to the private nave of the house on the upper floor.

The idea is for the entire proposal to live around the garden, turning its interior spaces towards the landscape. This nature is subtly included in other sectors of the house, achieving interior atmospheres that create a more sensitive relationship with the exterior.

Topographical and landscape strategies contain an area in greater contact with the calm of the river that flows into it. The planted terrace elevates this green, inviting contemplation and dominating the surroundings.

The house is made of noble materials. A free-standing concrete structure was chosen in order to respond correctly to the morphological and spatial imprint of the house. The surfaces of the two volumes are distinguished by different coatings that emphasise the tectonicity of the proposal and enhance the morphologies, giving character to each part.

The clarity reflected by the concrete, the metallic skin and the white brick acts in counterpoint with the warmth proposed by the wood in the enclosures and interior cladding.

The material continuity of the floors sews all the rooms together monochromatically, accentuating the spatial fluidity of the house.

Low thermal transmittance enclosures and DVH windows with thermal bridge breakage were chosen to achieve comfortable environments while guaranteeing high energy efficiency.
