On Tuesday April 10 as part of the programming lecture series "ESARQ Forums: Ways of Seeing" organized by the School of Architecture, ESARQ-UIC, together with the Department of Ceramics ASCER, the architect and expert on African culture Peter Rich will lecture "Learnt in translation." The conference, open to the public, will take place at 19.00 in the Auditorium of Barcelona Campus of UIC and teach the broad personal and professional, as well as the methodology of the architect. Much of the intensive observation process of the population, environment and documentation of the context that Rich exercises, allows you to develop an architecture that preserves indigenous social structures and groups that are part of the place and are unchanged.

Besides being a researcher and pioneer in the documentation of African settlements for further dissemination, Rich was a true activist during apartheid and its relationship with indigenous communities has allowed him to create and promote a sustainable African architecture and true, always respecting the essence of their location. "Through a sustainable research in local conditions and context, I try to provide solutions that are unique to your space and time," says the architect.

Peter Rich's work has been recognized with various awards such as the award World Building of the Year of World Architecture Forum in Barcelona, the IASS Tsuboi Award of Shanghai or the Built Environment Category Winner Award Earth in London in 2009. Honorary Member of the American Institute of Architects in 2010, Peter Rich was awarded the same year with the gold medal awarded by the South African Institute of Architects, the highest award given in South Africa recognized professional architecture.
