The inauguration will take place the next 10th of September at 20:00 and the exhibition will be opened until the next 17th of November.
Hombres del siglo XX is an ambitious project that the german photographer conceptualized in 1910. The task of this work started from the portraits that he made of different's Westerwald's farmers, that he considered an archetype of the modern man. Starting with that, Sander developed a filosophy which positions the man inside a model of cynical society. The farmer class (Der Bauer) represents the structure of the society. It is followed by the artisan (Der Handwerker), the woman (Die Frau), the workers (Die Stände) -which represents the basis of the civic life, from the lawyer to the Parliament member, from the soldier to the banker-, the intellectuals, artists, musicians and dying man and corpse (Letzte Menschen). After that, Sander subdivided every group into 49 differents portfolios, with a different title. Unfortunately, he hadn't the chance of publishing the whole project during his life.
