The proposal "Fragments of nostalgia M02025" has won the first prize in the national competition under the slogan for the rehabilitation of the "Nave de la Pulpa" in the park "La Azucarera" in Monzón. The project will preserve and transform the former storage building into a congress and exhibition centre and will include common spaces for co-working and local associations. The warehouse will be returned to its original morphology to house an open, multifunctional space. What was once the engine of the region's economy will now become a space for cultural activities and interaction between generations, reclaiming its public presence and centrality in the city.
The project proposes a mixed strategy, in which different interventions can be undertaken alone, alternatively, or over time, but under a defined and clarifying plan that avoids overlapping and optimizes resources and results.
The proposal also transforms the adjacent area into a public park with community gardens or a market.
The set of interventions will be partially subsidized as part of the European strategic projects of the Spanish Urban Agenda.
