De Dijk primary school, which provides Montessori education by Drost + van Veen architecten, a successful Dutch practice in Rotterdam. In the past 19 years they have managed to realize a portfolio of buildings that either strongly merge into the context of the surrounding landscape or prominently stand out like beacons.

They present to you their projects.-

For De Dijk primary school, which provides Montessori education, a building has been designed whose interior harmonizes perfectly with its educational vision. The exterior has become the logo of the revi- talization of the suburb of Beijum. The new identity of the school and the suburb is largely determined by the new position of the school on the most important access road to the suburb and its situation along a canal. The educational concept of the school, in which much individual and independent work is performed in the corridor, turned out to integrate ideally with the canal dike. Spacious corridors, with extra space for a library for example and much glass between the classrooms and the corridor areas were the result.
