José Salinas, AAMArch. Founder, Principal of KNOBSDesign NY+ Madrid. José Salinas received his Master of Architecture from The Architectural Association. He is the founder of KNOBSDesign in New York + Madrid. KNOBS (Knowledge Based System) focuses on architectural design at all scales - furniture, interior, building and urban design - and extends to digital interactive environments and installations. KNOBS understands architecture design as augmented interactive environments and is exploring inner living spaces, shaped by external machinist systems of information that transform and generate new topological configurations. KNOBSDesign has completed construction of different projects in New York, including the 2,500 sqft. Onishi Gallery / Gallery Memoria in Chelsea, New York in February 2007.
In addition to his practice, José Salinas is teaching at Universidad Europea, Escuela Superior de Arte y Arquitectura [ESAYA] in Madrid and has taught at Cornell University in New York, MIT Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston; Princeton University in New Jersey and Pratt Institute in New York. He has lectured internationally including GSD Harvard in Boston, The Architectural Association in London, Frankfurt Academy of Fine Arts (Staedelschule), Pontificia Universidad Católica in Chile, and Instituto Cervantes in Berlin.
