Simón García, the creative and multidisciplinary center of Fashion Métiers d'art stands out for its triangular and elegant composition that is covered with a visual plethora of "concrete threads" 24 meters high, which refer to haute couture fabrics. The 19M building will also house an agora, 1,200 m² of space dedicated to meeting, exchange, and dialogue.
Rudy Ricciotti has a conception of space, use of light, and sense of how the building has to adapt to each craft that made him the ideal architect for the required project.
"19M will tell the story of the relationship between the technical and skillful complexity of the fashion trades, their remarkable virtuosity at the service of creation and beauty, and the extreme technological character of my creations."
Rudy Ricciotti.
The structure designed by
Rudy Ricciotti is built on a 9,000 m² site at the Porte d'Aubervilliers, an important gateway to Paris, located at the junction of the Pont-de-Flandre district in the 19th arrondissement and the Chapelle district in the 18th district.
"19M will be an open house, a meeting place with diversity. A center where you can find artisans, the public, schools and students, and lovers of the art of the neighborhood."
Bruno Pavlovsky, President of Chanel Fashion and President of Chanel SAS.
The name of the 19M project is born from a conjunction of symbols. The "19" is taken from the project's location in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, as well as from the day Gabrielle Chanel was born. On the other hand, the "M" comes from Métiers d'Art, while highlighting the nature of the project inspired by "mode"- fashion, "main"- hand, "Maison" (fashion house), and manufacturing.
