Convertible Mediterranean (Ridiculous tour around that happy country).

Íñigo Domínguez, Rome stringer of the newspaper ‘El Correo’ returns to Spain in 2008 to tour the Mediterranean coast in a convertible. He does so with the eyes of a person that has been seven years out of the country. The roads have changed, he is surprised by the number of half-built buildings, the endless number of roundabouts, the extremely high prices, the great amount of ‘for sale’ and ‘for rent' signs… A Spain where the construction crisis was noticeable, but in which we could not even imagine what there was to come.

Publishing house Libros del K.O. collects this series of articles that were published seven years ago in the newspapers of the Vocento group. 18 chapters that are 18 stages of a journey from Portbou to Tarifa in which Íñigo Domínguez (the traveller) describes the aberrations, waste and absurdities of that time with an irony that makes the reading not too depressing.

The book includes a final chapter, an appendix in which it is reviewed, seven years later, the current status of each of the stages. A 'disaster report' in which corruption is the protagonist and the icing on the cake of this, not so happy, country. The author recommends reading it slowly and, if possible, with a shot in the hand.

Definitely a good book for this summer, with great illustrations by Esteban Hernández.
