As I was already landed for first time in Denmark, I search for a Young Hostel and in the one I went I concurred with a nice people group formed by Alicante architecture university students. I remember that it was not only a coincidence we were architects and from Spain, even we knew a person in common. After having dinner together, I was telling them I was going to start working in JDS in two days. They offered to me the chance to go with them for a tour next morning, so I accepted.
Although I remember most of the visiting day, the buildings I keep better in memory are the ones which owned to the office I was going to work in (some of them, before the separation, when they were PLOT, now JDS and BIG) Three of them together, with special mention to the Mountain Dwellings. My new colleages were realy friendly and the tutor explanations clear and impresive.

Linking this experience with other one, in Borneo district in Amsterdam, through a person who was also working with JDS, but in this case he in Belgium. I think I've never known such a young student who had more references and names of architects in his mind, also web sites and exact situations of the buildings. Was a great walk, cause we didn't not only speak about buildings, also we were laughing a lot telling us old situations in our respective offices.
I don't know how long it take us, loosing ourselves in canals and dwelling projects, but I still remember specialy the one of Enric Miralles.

Till now I haven't met anyone in Vienna that worked before in JDS office, but that doesn't mean I didn't have any visiting people. If Copenhagen and Amsterdam are really great reference cities for contemporary architecture, Vienna is not that special and keeps the cultural improvement of the Secession movement. What it's quite curious is to look up to the ceilings, where many “beginning” and “half” century buildings have new penthouses.

The walk was this time also family members: After Adolf Loos housing in the 13th and 18th district and Otto Wagner hospital, we went to see the Werkbund Siedlung, dated in 1932, which survived almost completely to second world war and keeps buildings of Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky, Adolf Loos, Hugo Häring, Gerrit T. Rietveld, Richard Neutra... just few of them are waiting for a new owner.
