Description of project by Pepe Cabrera
Intervening in the Marina Alta brings with it an exercise of reflection, introspection and respect. Bathed by the Mediterranean coast and protected by the Montgó natural park, this detached house is part of an unbuilt land with visuals limited by the adjoining houses.
Two accesses separate this house between the pedestrian zone and the access for vehicles; being the first on the upper floor and the second on the lower part of the house.
Divided into two floors, Bioclimatic Housing in the Marina Alta has a complex program of needs between which integrates an indoor and outdoor pool, an area reserved for vehicles, three bedrooms and the premise of opening the space to the maximum to be able Enjoy the privileged environment that surrounds it.
The upper floor of this house of Pepe Cabrera is articulated adapting to the seasonality of the area, generating a "box-container" with two "boxes" in its interior designed to make the most of the plot that surrounds them.
Avoiding the use of corridors, this "box" attached to the plot is arranged as a "box" very flexible, opening and closing depending on your needs and seasonal changes.
The dining-study, the living area, the kitchen and the bathroom share this upper floor that is visually fragmented thanks to a use of materiality that is capable of hiding the bathrooms and the storage spaces.
The ceramic stoneware imitates the wood and floods the entire central room of the plant, as well as the exterior areas of the same, with a concrete roof that shares materiality with the roof of the lower patio and that is in itself the roof that covers the living place.
The pool extends into the space generating some continuity with the sea. These views open up to the entire Bioclimatic House in the Marina Alta thanks to the use of large windows that allow the entry of light, ventilation and the possibility of enjoying the Mediterranean even from the front garden.
From the outside, this house divided into two floors makes a small nod to traditional Mediterranean architecture thanks to the use of a simple line and materials from the area. The stone, present in the recessed part of the house, generates a continuity between the slope of the plot and the "box-container" of the upper floor, it is distinguished by the use of a white architecture with certain "transparencies" that lighten both volumes with the arrangement of large windows.
