Van Berkel has been one of the most influential voices in contemporary architecture on the last two decades, which has lead him to take the Kenzo Tange Visiting Professor’s Chair on Harvard Graduate School of Design, imparting also class at Staedelschule on Frankfurt am Main and giving lectures on diverse universities and institutions all over the world.
Ben van Berkel is, with Caroline Bos, co-founder of UN Studio, a network of architecture, urban development and infrastructure experts that are carrying on the last years massive projects as the restructuring of Arnhem Station on the Netherlands; the mixed use Raffles City in Hangzhou, China; an auditorium in Saint Petersburg, Russia; or the restructuring of Bahía Ponte Parodi in Italy.
Other works of UN Studios are the Mercedes Benz museum at Stuttgart; the Centercity Galleries renovation in Seoul; or the Ardmore Residence building, recently finished in Singapore.
This event is included in a cycle of lectures with great guests invited by IE School of Architecture and Design and linked to its post-graduate programs. This cycle includes conferences by architecture studios as those of Richard Rogers, Zaha Hadid, OMA, David Chipperfield or Foster and Partners, among others.
